The County has an opening for one full-time temporary Equipment Operator. Reporting to the North Lead Hand, this position will operate various types of equipment including: grader, backhoe, skid steer, gravel/plow truck.
It should be noted that all equipment operators are part of a team environment and assignments and types of equipment operation may change. Other specific responsibilities are as follows:
- Experience in operating equipment is required, as well as a Class 5 Driver's License and the ability to work extended hours and call-outs if required.
- Ensure that general road maintenance and grading of the roads are conducted in an efficient manner.
- Incumbent will be required to perform equipment maintenance duties and various labour duties as required.
- Working with the public works crew on culvert-related work requests and installation of approaches, removal of beaver dams
- Operate and assist on Road Reconstruction Projects.
- Operate Equipment and Labour on re-gravelling/grading Projects.
- Operate County gravel trucks for the purposes of hauling equipment, materials and any demolition materials.
- Responsible for the safe operation and minor maintenance of County equipment.
- Responsible for maintenance and repairs of signs, culverts, rip-rap, beaver control, snow fence, guardrails, bridge washing, brushing, and chipping, along with other items associated with the road network.
- Be aware of and adhere to all safety requirements and policies of the County and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Assist A.S.B. and Public Works staff by reporting weed, brushing, signage and road problems.
- Assist Utilities personnel with waterline break repairs and excavations of lines as required.
- Prepare all paperwork (i.e. maps, time sheets, fuel logs) as required.
Skills/Expertise Required:
- A Class 1 or 3 driver's license would be an asset.
- Good inter-personal skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Good physical condition.
