Advocacy

Council believes that advocacy with other levels of government, regional, provincial or federal, will assist in improving the various aspects and operations of the County.

The Council's advocacy priorities are

  • Grant funding for infrastructure related to water, drainage, and bridges
  • Unpaid taxes (oil and gas industries) and the Orphan Well Funding program
  • Arbitration Issues
  • Support for the Northwest Species at Risk (NWSAR) Committee
  • BC Hydro/Site C Dam flooding concerns
  • Shortage of healthcare workers
  • Need for efficient and effective railway infrastructure for all industries

Details of the Council’s advocacy priorities can be found in the Council Advocacy Policy. The policy is renewed annually by February 28 in preparation for the Rural Municipalities of Association (RMA) convention.
