Development Notices

At any given time, there are a variety of development projects and developments taking place in the County of Northern Lights. They range from small residential property developments to larger-scale industry projects and new developments, as well as municipal Area Structure Plans and Land Use Bylaw updates.

Under Section F3 of the Land Use Bylaw, the public is considered officially notified of approved development permits once posted on the official County website and media sites, and advertised in the Mile Zero - Banner Post.

The County’s Land Use Bylaw provides that any person claiming to be affected by a decision of the Development Authority may appeal to the Peace Regional Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) or Alberta’s Land and Property Rights Tribunal dependent on the jurisdiction of the Appeal authority.

An appeal under the jurisdiction of the Peace Regional SDAB requires a written notice of the appeal and a payment of $150.00, as outlined in the Schedule of Fees bylaw. Filing and payment must be received within 21 days of the publishing of the Notice of Decision.

Proposed Subdivision Notification

Due to the Canada Post Strike, this advisement will not be mailed to adjacent landowners. Comments can be emailed or voiced at the January 10, 2025 Council meeting as indicated below.

Proposed Subdivision – SE 22-86-24-W5M

An application has been received for a farmstead separation on the above lands. The proposal is to create one 10-acre parcel from the unsubdivided quarter section. Section 653(4) of the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000 requires that adjacent landowners be notified. A copy of the subdivision proposal is below.
