Student Bursary

The Association of Alberta Agricultural Fieldmen, as an ongoing tribute to active or retired AAAF members who pass away, and in the spirit of continuing education valued by our Association, created the AAAF Memorial Bursary.

Students must be enrolled in an agricultural or environmental science program.  There is a $1000 bursary available in each calendar year for each of the 5 provincial regions of the Association of Alberta Agricultural Fieldmen.

An Agricultural Fieldman in good standing with the AAAF must receive your application with all supporting documentation by September 1st of each year. You can search for your local agricultural fieldman by checking our membership directory.

The deadline for applications is September 1st.

Canadian Natural Resources' Building Futures Scholarship Program plays a crucial role in shaping the future workforce for their industry. Canadian Natural takes great pride in investing in education and our youth, and this program is a critical part of those efforts.

Application Periods: Only one application per student is accepted in a calendar year

• Fall Semester: July 10 – August 15
• Winter Semester: November 10 – December 15

The First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) bursary program provides funding for Indigenous students in the form of a non-repayable bursary if you agree to live and work in northern Alberta for one year of full-time employment in return for each year of bursary support received. Employment must be in your field of studies for which the bursary was provided.

The goal of this bursary is to assist FNMI students to obtain the skills and knowledge to enter or re-enter the workforce in northern Alberta.

The Grimshaw Regional Healthcare Attraction & Retention Committee (GRHARC) has a $2000.00 scholarship available for students who call the County of Northern Lights, Town of Grimshaw, MD of Peace No.135 or Village of Berwyn home!

The Indigenous bursaries search tool is a searchable list of 537 bursaries, scholarships and incentives aimed at Indigenous students across Canada.

The Manning Royal Purple offers two $500.00 annual bursaries; the Emma Lorencz Bursary and the Aileen Aardema Apprenticeship Bursary. Bursary information is posted on the Manning Royal Purple Facebook page.

The Northern Alberta Development Bursary (NADB) Program, with Alberta Advanced Education, offers bursaries for Alberta students who have what it takes to live and work in the north. Recipients do not have to repay the bursary funds they receive if they complete their return service obligation. Recipients who do not complete their return service obligation must repay the bursary.

There are bursaries for the following areas of study:

• Medical and Dental
• Pharmacy
• Large Animal Veterinary Services
• Nurse Practitioners
• Teaching

Through the generosity of donors, the Northwestern Alberta Foundation has been able to award thousands of dollars to post-secondary students from our region.

Applications are open to students attending any form of post-secondary education or training. The online application portal opens in April and closes in August.

The RhPAP Rural Medical School Award provides a one-time contribution of $5,000 to assist with the student’s tuition, accommodation, living, and/or professional development expenses. The Award is available to a maximum of four students per year, to be applied to the following year of their medical degree. Up to two Awards per Alberta medical school per year will be granted.

The Robert E. Walter Memorial Scholarship was created to financially assist persons from the North Peace and Mackenzie regions taking post-secondary programs who plan to utilize their education in a career based in the North Peace or Mackenzie regions of northern Alberta. 

Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) offers a Scholarship Program in support of rural students attending an Alberta college or university. The bursary amount is $1,000 and is presented to one successful applicant from each of the five RMA districts.

You may be eligible for a TD Scholarship for Community Leadership valued at up to $70,000 over 4 years towards a post-secondary college or university education.
