Type(s)
Public Engagement & Awareness

With hunting season underway across Alberta, the Manning RCMP are reminding hunters to make safety and security a priority. Following proper safety practices helps protect hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts who share Alberta’s natural spaces.

The Manning RCMP offer the following tips to help ensure a safe, responsible and enjoyable hunting season:

  • Inspect and check you hunting equipment before heading out to make sure it is in safe working order.
  • Ensuring that your firearm is unloaded when not in use and during transportation.
  • Make a conscious effort not to leave firearms unattended in vehicles, even momentarily. Do your best to properly secure them to avoid any risk of theft or misuse.
  • Avoid high-traffic areas and clearly marked trails where non-hunters may also be enjoying the outdoors.
  • Wear bright or high-visibility clothing, ideally in orange or another standout color, to ensure you’re visible to others.
  • Checking that you have the necessary licenses, tags, and permits.
  • Respecting any designated zones and protected wildlife areas.
  • Follow all hunting rules and regulations.
  • Be Prepared for Emergencies. Carry a first aid kit, a fully charged phone, or a communication device and always inform someone of your hunting location

“We in Manning are blessed to have such sought after hunting lands in our very backyard. Treating the land, the landowners, fellow hunters, and the hunting rules and regulations with respect will help everyone towards a successful and safe hunting season.” – Cpl. David Fogarty
