In 2025 and 2026, the Government of Alberta conducted two nuclear energy engagement surveys; one between August 25 and October 25, 2025 and one between March 3 and March 24, 2026. In-person and virtual engagement sessions were also conducted earlier in 2026.
The Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel has prepared a final report based on the surveys and engagement sessions, summarizing the findings of the province-wide engagement on nuclear energy.
The final report also includes 6 recommendations for the Government of Alberta to consider. The recommendations are centred around 7 main themes:
- Public Awareness and Education
- Economic and Community Impacts
- Safety, Radiation and Emergency Response
- Nuclear Waste Management
- Environment and Water
- Participation and Influence in Decision-making
- Market Readiness and Financial Considerations
