Whether you are a new or experienced driver, Manning RCMP wants everyone to focus on sharing the road with courtesy and safety this Spring.
Manning RCMP urges any new and experienced drivers to remember these driving tips:
- Be patient with new drivers. You were once a new driver too.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Don’t pass when it is unsafe to do so and don’t tailgate other drivers.
- Stay off your phone and other devices, keep yourself focused on driving when behind the wheel.
- Follow the posted speed limit and drive at a speed you are comfortable within conditions that aren’t ideal.
- Always wear a seatbelt and ensure your passengers do too.
- Be patient and courteous of people who are hauling farming equipment, and mindful toward other commercial vehicles and motorcycles.
- If you have your learner’s permit, never drive solo. You must be accompanied by a fully licenced (non-GDL probationary) individual.
“The safety of our roads is incumbent on each and every one of us. Whether you are a new driver still building your confidence or an experienced driver who has been behind the wheel for many years, we all share the same streets and follow the same rules. These rules exist to protect every person on it. Driving offers tremendous freedoms and is a privilege that comes with critical responsibilities. Make sure you are following traffic laws and keeping our highways and neighbourhoods safe.” – Cpl. David Fogarty.
