On Tuesday, August 18, Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, announced the list of designated initial regions that qualify for the Livestock Tax Deferral in 2025. The County of Northern Lights has been listed as a 'Designated Regions Buffer'.
Buffer regions are included to capture impacted producers who are outside the boundaries of prescribed areas, but may be experiencing similar conditions. Conditions for buffer regions will be monitored and will be added to the prescribed region list when they meet the criteria.
