County Councillors Recognized at 2025 RMA Convention

County Councillors and administration attended the 2025 RMA (Rural Municipalities of Alberta) Convention in Edmonton this week.

RMA Convention is held twice per year; spring and fall. The convention sees a variety of plenary addresses and workshops, as well as the ministerial forum and resolutions session. In addition to these events, the fall convention hosts the opposition party leader panel, as well as our RMA Board elections and partners program.

Long Service Pin Presentation

At this years' convention Reeve Terry Ungarian, Councillor Brent Reese, and Councillor Linda Halabisky all received their 15 Years of Service pins in recognition of their service as elected officials for the County of Northern Lights. 

EOEP Certificate Presentation

Councillor Kaylan Schug was also presented with her EOEP certificate at this years' convention. Congratulations, Councillor Schug!

The EOEP (Elected Officials Education Program) certification process requires completing seven courses. The required courses are

  1. Munis 101: Essentials of Municipal Governance 
  2. Regional Partnerships and Collaboration
  3. Strategic Planning
  4. Service Delivery
  5. Public Engagement
  6. Land Use Development Approvals
  7. Corporate Planning and Finance
