Here are your highlights from the June 23, 2026 Council meeting 

 Community Initiatives, Engagement, and Advocacy

  • Reeve Terry Ungarian will be attending the Alberta Forest Products Association Annual Conference in Jasper this coming fall
  • Council motioned to have the administration determine the best method to improve public access to ward reports on the County website
  • Council will be providing a letter of support to Mercer Peace River related to a proposed carbon capture project
  • The PREA (Peace Region Energy Alliance) positioning paper, originally scheduled for release on June 25, has been postponed due to a contractor’s medical event
  • County Council and staff will be attending the Battle River Rodeo Parade on July 18
  • Councillor Gloria Dechant issued a statement and apology regarding comments made at the June 17 Joint Ratepayer Meeting held in Council chambers. It is available to view on the County website

Agricultural Services

  • Council will be completing the ASBPC (Agricultural Service Board Provincial Committee) Strategic Planning survey, and will advertise the survey to other stakeholders via the County’s social media and website 

Infrastructure 

  • Public Works will be applying for HARP (Hazard Assistance and Resilience Program) funding through AEMA (Alberta Emergency Management Agency) to help offset the cost of repairing washouts that occurred during the spring thaw

Upcoming Meetings

The next regular Council meeting will be on July 14, 2026, at 1 pm at the Keg River Community Hall, followed by a Joint Ratepayer meeting.
