Community safety starts with the people who live here.
On October 28, the people who shape life in the Peace Country will spend a day in one room, on one question: what can we do next to keep our towns safe places to live, work and raise a family. The Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association (ACCPA) is bringing its first One-Day Forum to Peace River, and residents are welcome.
Every town in the region knows the feeling. A break-in on a quiet street. A business that closes early. A neighbour who no longer walks home after dark. Small towns have always solved these problems the same way, by coming together. The forum is that day for the Peace Country.
Your mayor, your councillors, the RCMP, FCSS and the people who run local services will be in the room. So can you. Come find out what is already working, and what your town can do next.
Who will be in the room
Peace River's MLA, joining virtually. Mayors and councillors. CAOs. RCMP. FCSS. Victim services. Nonprofits. Treaty 8 and Métis leadership. Local business leaders. Residents who care about their town.
What the day looks like
- Opening session. Where the Peace Country stands on community safety, and what is already working in small towns.
- Networking lunch. Time to talk with the people who make decisions in your town and across the region.
- Afternoon workshop. Practical, hands-on work on what each part of the community can do next.
How to take part
- Come. Registration is open at accpa.org/one-day-forum. Lunch and breaks are included and the ticket is kept affordable so that no one is priced out of the conversation.
- Bring your perspective. You know your street, your school, your main street and your neighbours. The afternoon workshop needs that knowledge in the room.
- Tell a neighbour. Share this with someone who cares about the town as much as you do.
