Recreation and Culture

The County of Northern Lights Council believes in providing and contributing to improvements in the accessibility and availability of recreational and cultural programs, services, and facilities essential for enhancing the quality of life for its residents and communities.

The promotion of recreational and cultural events, programs, and services for residents and visitors is done through Explore County of Northern Lights, the official County Recreation and Culture website. The website was developed in 2017 under the adoption of the County’s Recreation and Cultural Master Plan.

The Explore County of Northern Lights website encourages the use and discovery of recreational and cultural opportunities and events in the County of Northern Lights and its support communities of Manning, Peace River and Grimshaw. In doing such, residents can live a happier and healthier lifestyle.

When you visit the Explore County of Northern Lights website you will event info, things to do, places to stay, dining, shopping, and many other things to discover in the area.

Residents are encouraged to check out the Community Resources page, where you can access contact and organization information for various local, regional and provincial resources. In addition, you will find info on sports organizations, non-profit and societies contact, and support services.

Community Groups and Organizations can check out the Volunteer page to find resources, submit information to aid in volunteer recruitment and have the County do a ‘volunteer call-out’ for your organization!

Planning a community event? You can submit your event to be added to the event calendar and be advertised in the County newsletter and social media channels, all for free!
