Revised Problem Wildlife Policy
At the February 9th, 2021 Council Meeting, Council discussed the effectiveness of the current Problem Wildlife Incentive Policy and the benefits of a new pilot program focusing on areas where the County cost shares control measures with applicants.
The original policy assisted Livestock Producers in the control of wolves which are or may be causing predation issues with a $50 compensation.
The new program will operate as a pilot project to also eliminate wolves causing proven depredation in specific areas.
The program is designed to operate on a 50/50 cost-share basis capped at a maximum of $500 per producer.
The program seeks to focus efforts of predator control and improve collaboration between Livestock Producers, Trappers, Fish & Wildlife and the County of Northern Lights.
