Evacuation Alert Status Rescinded- Residents of County of Northern Lights and Town of Manning
To Residents located in the County of Northern Lights and in the Town of Manning. At 8:00 a.m. Friday, June 14th, 2019 the Joint Emergency Coordination Centre for the Town of Manning and the County of Northern Lights RESCINDS the Evacuation Alert Status for the following boundaries:
Evacuation Alert has been lifted for:
- Town of Manning
- Northward from Township Road 910, (North Star Road)
- Everyone west from Range Road 231
- Everyone west from the Notikewin River
- Everyone south of the County’s northern boundary (Keg River/Carcajou)
The Battle Complex Wildfire has been classified as “Being Held”, however, the Chuckegg Creek Wildfire is still out of Control and Crews will continue to work in and around Paddle Prairie and the County’s northern border. Fire continues to burn and smoulder in bogs and there are many hotspots. There is lots of smoke, however, the fire is not moving quickly.
The County of Northern Lights will continue to monitor and be in communication with Alberta Forestry as fires within the interior perimeter of the Chuckegg and Battle Complex will continue to burn and smoke throughout the summer. Residents are reminded that a Fireban and Off Highway Vehicle restriction remains in place until significant rainfall reduces the risk of wildfire in the area.
Thank you to everyone for their patience throughout this difficult time.
