Legalization of Cannabis – What Does it Mean for the County of Northern Lights
In the spring of 2017, The Government of Canada introduced Bill C-45 (The Cannabis Act), which will legalize, regulate and allow the sales of cannabis in Canada. It is possible that retail sales will be available late summer/fall 2018. The County of Northern Lights is currently updating the Land Use Bylaw to ensure conformity with federal and provincial cannabis legislation. Currently, it is only legal to consume cannabis if you have a medical prescription.
Have your say! We are currently gathering input from County residents and key stakeholders about land use regulations that are within the County’s control and responsibility, such as retail sales regulations.
