Dog Control

The County of Northern Lights has an established bylaw to provide for the licensing, regulation and control of dogs for the purpose of public safety. This bylaw applies to the Hamlets of Dixonville, Deadwood, North Star, Keg River, Notikewin and the sub-divisions of Aspen Grove, Northridge Estates, Weberville Country Estates, Sweetwater, Paradise Acres / Watson and Lovlin Flats.

A County Dog License can be purchased at the County Services Building at #600-7th Avenue NW, Manning. The cost of the tag and registration is $5.00 and is good for the lifetime of the dog. The County encourages dog owners to license their dogs so they may be easily identified in the event they become lost. For more information call Toll Free 1.888.525.3481.

Residents of the Town of Manning must comply with Bylaw 784, which requires the purchase of a dog license. Please refer to the Town of Manning website for details. www.manning.ca

Provincial Legislation such as the Dangerous Dog Act and the Stray Animal Act are applicable in all areas of the County that do not form part of a recognized Hamlet or sub-division. More information is available from the Alberta Animal Services website: www.albertaanimalservices.ca
